Greenpeace Announces Staffer Wins Right Livihood Award
Greenpeace announced that staffer Rene Ngnongo has won the Right Livihood Award which many view as an alternate Nobel Prize. Rene Ngnongo has worked tirelessly in the Republic of the Congo to save as much of the rainforest as possible. In addition to his efforts to save the rainforest he helped develop better agricultural techniques and planted approximately 20 000 seedlings.
René's entire work is recgonized by the Right Livelihood Award Foundation today: "Since 1994, including through the civil war from 1996-2002, René Ngongo has engaged, at great personal risk, in popular campaigning, political advocacy and practical initiatives to confront the destroyers of the rainforest and help create the political conditions that could halt its destruction and bring about its conservation and sustainable use.
Rene Ngnongo joins a select group of people who are working effectively to save the ecosystems of the world.
