The Associated Press (AP) is reporting that there are some 27,000 abandoned oil and gas wells littering the Gulf of Mexico. These findings are a serious concern to scientists and environmentalists who are monitoring the effects of the Gulf oil spill. This is especially alarming considering the devastation already beset upon the sensitive marshes and ecosystems in the Gulf region and its wildlife and marine inhabitants.
