When the Haiti earthquake struck yesterday, word spread very quickly about the hospital collapse, and the USGS Haiti earthquake map showed the extent of the earthquake damage zone, as well as, for some people, where Haiti is located on a map. Twitter also became a crucial documentation tool, with Haiti Earthquake Twitter photos spreading around the web to give the rest of the world a human face to put on the tragedy.

Twitter is also key in organizing Haiti earthquake relief efforts. Various Twitter users are spreading the link to the Red Cross International Response Fund, as well as Wyclef Jean's Yele Haiti organization, whose website is currently overloaded.
