Have you heard of WFES

I am under the impression the world is really not paying much attention to the World Future Energy Summit, is it? Here in Brazil I have not heard a word of it on TV, Radio or from the periodicals. (http://www.worldfutureenergysummit.com/)

Yet there is a Energy Summit happening at the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and it seems to be important. I mean everything concerning Energy and the Environment is important, right?  Abu Dhabi will be the center of world´s environmental concern.

This summit happens right after the modest results of Copenhagen´s. Is that the reason for this lake of interest? (Or, maybe, simply have become another victim of the earthquake in Haiti - this time in the media.)

The 2009 United Nations Climate Change Conference, commonly known as the Copenhagen Summit was said to be essential for the world´s destiny. One does not need to go far to find out it was not successful - the deal was not sealed as expected.

This does not mean we have to stop trying on the contrary. I thought the World Future Energy Summit would be the biggest effort in that direction in 2010.

The event seems representative, the facts speak up for themselves:
The Crown Prince of Spain, Felipe de Borbón y Grecia has confirmed his participation, more than 70 companies from Germany are confirmed, Mauri Pekkarinen, Minister of Economic Affairs from Finland, will be a keynote speaker in the Energy Ministers’ panel session on the first day of the Summit and  leading companies and organisations from all across China, from Beijing, Shanghai, and Changzhou, to Wuxi, Ningbo, and Hangzhou will be participating in the World Future Energy Summit. This just to mention a few.

But look the print screens above (done this morning). They are also at Flickr:

Why is this happening?

The WFES is being hosted by Abu Dhabi, NOT Dubai. For the record, they are two entirely different emirates.

Thank you very much. Do you have any idea why major media did not give much attention to the Summit? (not a single notice on CNN / in Brazil was the same at Globo News)
