Heather Mills: Be Vegan - Save the Planet
Ms. Heather Mills, former model and ex-wife of Sir Paul McCartney launched a pro-vegan campaign in Hyde Park, England.
Mills made a speech at the famous Speakers’ Corner in London’s Hyde Park to kick-start the campaign. Mills said: “The startling truth is that animals farmed for meat and dairy are now one of the greatest threats to the planet. They are at the heart of almost all the world’s environmental catastrophes. Viva! has been saying this for years and now the UN has confirmed it with a report so detailed that it can’t be ignored.”
Miss Mills went on to further say;
“Fortunately, as individuals we don’t have to wait for anyone. You can end your involvement in this vandalism overnight and help to secure our children’s future. All you need to do is change your diet – it’s that simple. Change your diet – change the world!”
Why do we as humans, not heed information and act? Why must we wait till its too late before we do anything? We have been like this for so many years, and yet we still do not learn.
This is such a prevalent issue that is going to affect everyone, yet we do nothing. We still eat meat - even though we know all the harms that it does to us, and to the environment.
Look at the recent SWINE FLU VIRUS - it comes from meat. It kills us, yet we still eat it. Go figure???
Is it because we are too arrogant to listen? Are we too proud?
Ms. Mill has given permission to portray both a racy side of her self, as well as a humerous side. In one of the ads, it gives mention to her disability, asking 'You haven't got a leg to stand on'. Ms. Mills lost her leg in a motorbike accident in 1993.
A second billboard has Mills in a seductive dress lying on a cracked and utterly destroyed scorching hot surface in an attempt to portray how consuming meat and dairy is contributing to global warming and destroying the earth.
Sir Paul McCartney, is also a massive vegan activists. Though due to the shaky relationship, he will not feature in Viva's campaign - for the time being.
The adveritising campaign ties in with the governement activly promoting a vegan lifestyle to prevent damaging the earth. WIth governments, and leading personailites in the for-front of saving the Planet, lets hope the message is heard - and the HUMAN IS SAVED. SOS.

It would help in deed, however it will bring with it some other problems. Such as health issues for most Human, since we are not build for a strict vegan died, Most wont be able to stay healthy especial some blood types are more susceptible then others.

I agree with Paschen it is too far fetched. Carbon is even a bigger thread, shortly I'll show in an article the results of my investigation on this subject. We can agree on that we all are very much concerned about Earth's health. However there are different avenues to go on. But every little bit is a contribution, although the effects are very much limited, because 80% of humanity on Earth doesn't bother at all.

I think a good way to start would be to stop eating meat for one day a week, or for the weekend say; that way you could cut down but it wouldn't be too drastic and it could be a gradual change.
(Could you add an opinion flag on this as well? You can do that by checking the box in the edit field). Thanks!

I agree with Amy... A gradual change in eating habits as well as attitude can go a good way in helping the cause..

I encourage everyone to become vegans. That way all the meat will be left for me!

Funny, I thought Heather Mills was a barracuda.

I appreciate all peoples views and opinions. I believe that we are all free to make any choices we like, formulate our own thoughts and make the right decision.
Though to whom ever placed the picture on this story (to which I have taken off) please refrain. I do not graffiti others pieces, if you can please show the same respect. It would be greatly appreciated.
I understand that some people do not agree with leading a vegan life. And that is ok. Believe me, my friends, family and parents give me a hard enough time about it. It is not my ambition to force anyone to do anything. There is no point, every person has to feel right in the choices they make. Otherwise it is not real, and it will not last.
I just want to provide information, and relay information that I get that does not get into mass media due to certain people in the public controlling what we do and do not see.
I am sure that you are all well aware of this, hence the need for a site like this.
As I keep I saying, I always feel very humble when people read my stories, and more so, those that recommend them. And I very much enjoy people sharing their own views, and formulating positive discussions. Though to those who wish to change a persons story with photos that are disrespectful (perhaps not for you, but for the person that wrote the story), can you please refrain. I assure you, I will show you the same respect.

Thank you amyjudd for your comment. That is very true, there doesn't have to be anything too drastic if you are not ready - just one meal a day, or as you say be vegan for the weekend. That is fantastic.

And to yo too - SamirJ, thank you for your comments.

Hey Pachen, well I think you have inspired my next piece. I will source information for you about Humans being vegans.
Recently I have had two expeirences, one with myself and the other with a very close friend. I was very sick, and while I was at the doctor I asked about my vegan diet, and if I change it. He told me not to eat meat. My very close friend was in the same position, and the doctor told her to actually go raw - only eat fruit and veggies that are not cooked. Being vegan has helped her improve her health.

Unfortunately some of your points in your comments are very true PIM of SPAIN, the apathy of the Human is appalling. I look at some, and think to myself if we have a chance. But I always remain positive, knowing that everything will work out in the end.
Though to what extent our end is, well that remains up to us - and the choices we make.
These stories relate highpowered poeple, and governments pusuing green energies that has the ability to power whole cities. Very encouraging, and gives hope.

Heather has done well to highlight tthis subject and I wish her well. But not everyone will give up meat.so in a way she is flogging a dead horse,so to speak.

Thanks for the comments jazzyzazzy - its hard to imagine in the world we live in, that it is possible to go veg. But we can always hope, and be positive that one day things will turn.

Livestock aren't destroying the earth. Not any more than humans do, so should we kill human to save the planet?
The problem is not in eating meat or diary, it's in the way people grow it and quantities eaten.
at 06:37 on May 7th, 2009
I agree with frenchguy the ones that do destroy Earth's climate are we humans. However this has gone on for over the last 100 years, and now we are noticing the climate change as a result. Fortunately scientists have come up with a repair solution -geo-engineering by applying SO2 equal to volcanic ash-, we all should embrace their solution, because there is no alternative to staving off the Earth's climate decline. Waiting longer will make the situation worse. All the above, although well intended, is working in the margin and not sorting the change envisioned. For more detailed information I may refer to my yesterday's publication about the subject at:

Guys I don't know if you read my articles - but the UN has stated that the livetock industry is destorying the planet. This is the United Nations scientist telling us that beyond doubt the Livestock is destroying the planet. The only solution is stop eating meat.
You are fooling yourselves thinking other wise. Sure sustainable living is very good, and helps a lot. But the quickest way you can help is to stop eating meat.
Listen to these people, the solution is real, the ramifications of you not acting accordingly is real.
at 06:25 on May 9th, 2009
Be realistic LilHoody, the UN can state one thing and other scientist something else about the same subject. Between scientists frequently is no unanimous agreement.
One thing is clear we are destroying the planet, not only by eating meat but many more pursuits. It is unwise to pin the evil of destruction just on one aspect.
at 00:39 on May 12th, 2009
Hmmm....well, when one area eg. Livestock industry accounts for the majority of carbon released in the atmoshpere - well above Transportation; I am being realistic. It is a catalysts, and it can be easily treated. No need to wait for governments to act, no need for money to impliment strategies (actually you will save money). Really simple and easy.
Perhaps it is you that needs to be realistic and open your eyes to the devastation of eating meat.
I am merely doing the research, and advocating what leading professionals and scientists are saying. I hope that you, and others can see it too. But if you can not, than that is your choice. Just like everything in this world.
I hope that we can all heed the calls from leaders of the world. But if not, than that is the Human being themselves. I am just acting, and helping to put the information out there.
I hope that you understand, I appreciate your views. As I mentioned, I always feel so humbled to be apart of the discussions and conversing about how we can help the Planet. Thank you so much for taking time.

LilHoody, I don't disagree with you as you rightly concluded. But changing the world in getting people convinced not eating meat is impossible. We have to live with that fact and find an alternative solution as I pointed out in my essay: Climate's Urgent Repair. In my essay about Water Shortage I stated:
"For example a kilogram of wheat requires around 1,000 litres. But it takes as much as 15,000 litres of water to produce a kilo of beef. Meat diets (US and EU) require for production about 5,000 litres/KG of water a day while vegetarian diets (Asia and Africa) use about 2,000 litres/KG a day. This compared with the use for drinking and washing, which is only 100-250 litres, a day/person."
With other words it would be better not to eat meat as you correctly concluded from CO2 point of view. But requiring the populace not to eat meat is next to impossible!
One day pharmacy may come that far that we eat one pill a day to have energy and food sufficient and ends world famine in the process.
at 03:34 on May 19th, 2009
Clearly I do not agree - People's bad habit is stopping them making the change.
Human apathy is very unattractive habit. Change your diet - thats it - its simple. Do not complicate matters, and make the choice to change.
I gaurantee you will feel better for it.

I know you disagree with me, but it is not me, and even not my personal opinion... but reality that drives the market, which we both can't change for the better or even worse. Now in India and China the middle class are entering the market of westernized eating habits, the situation is just getting worse from what you suppose to reach: Back in 1980 the per capita meat consumption in China was about 44 lbs a year; now it tops 110 pounds. In 1983 the world consumed 152 million tons of meat a year. By 1997 consumption was up to 233 million tons. While the UN Food and Agriculture Organization estimates that by 2020 world consumption could top 386 million tons of pork chicken, beef and farmed fish. I wonder how you can change that. Mind you all the farmers, breeders slaughters, etc. that are losing their job and income. A gigantic enterprise to readdress all these interest in an opposite direction, not to think about all the riots, strikes, protests and demonstrations. From behind the desk it looks simple, but reality is what counts, I'm interested to learn from you how you should cope as President or Executive in charge with such riots and insurrections from millions of people involved? I guarantee; you won't feel better for it anymore!
