In 1926, the Hi-Bred Corn Company was established in Iowa by Henry Wallace who would later become vice-president of the United States. It became the Pioneer Hi-Bred Corn Company in 1935, the Pioneer Hi-Bred International Incorporated in 1970, before being fully owned by Dupont in 1999. I don't agree with their genetically modified corn and soybeans but I like their exhibit on the evolution of corn --- from its grassy Aztec ancestor to the scrawny American Indian variety to the newest hybrids.
