Sounds like a heckuva lot to me.

That is the amount of recoverable natural gas that has been declared “off-limits” by a bill which just cleared the Senate.

But don’t worry, America.

The Senate is now holding hearings on how college football teams are chosen to compete in the BCS.

Don’t you feel better now?

I thought you might.

Now, back to sleep.

Why was it declared off limits? that is so strange!

"Why was it declared off limits?"

Our politicians generally have two reasons for making any decision:

1)  The one that sounds good.

2)  The real reason.

The first one is usually wrapped in words which suggest protecting the environment, patriotism, fear, or my favorite ... "it's for the children..."

The second is usually all about money, power and influence.

You're talking about Wyoming's Bridger-Teton National Forest, a natural resource in itself. Ever been to Wyoming? Oil wells all over the place, and strip-mining coal.
Protecting some of the most beautiful  forest in the country.
But I wonder, Wyoming is Cheney's home state. What part of revenge might figure in this?

Yeah.  First job when I finished school was with an oilfield service company, based out of Rock Springs, WY.

Beautiful country, no doubt.  But, winter climate was way too harsh for me.  Actually, I didn't know what winter was all about until I lived in Wyoming.
