A young humpback whale was found dead in the Thames, near Kent, on Monday. This is the first time a whale has been stranded in the Thames.

Post-mortem examinations have shown that the whale died of starvation. The dead humpback is 9.5 meters (28ft). Humpbacks can grow to a lenght of 12-15 meters.

Deaville said the whale may have been confused by the topography of the Thames and ambient noise, or because it was sick or because climate change caused shift of the routes - vast migrations.
