Hurricane Igor Passes Bermuda, Heads for Newfoundland
Hurricane Igor still has Bermuda on a tropical storm warning, Currently at Category 1, Hurricane Igor has sustained winds of 75mph, radiating 90 miles from its center.
A tropical storm watch is in effect for Newfoundland, from Stones Cove to Jones Harbour. Hurricane Igor is expected to downgrade by then, but could still cause some extremely wet weather and large waves.
Surfers looking to ride the hurricane swells are urged to think twice, as the National Hurricane Center warns of life-threatening waves and riptides:
SURF...LARGE SWELLS WILL CONTINUE TO AFFECT THE EAST COAST OF THE UNITED STATES THROUGH TUESDAY. LARGE SWELLS WILL GRADUALLY SUBSIDE IN PUERTO RICO...THE VIRGIN ISLANDS...HISPANIOLA...AND PORTIONS OF THE BAHAMAS DURING THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS.
