Surfers looking to ride the hurricane swells are urged to think twice, as the National Hurricane Center warns of life-threatening waves and riptides:

SURF...LARGE SWELLS WILL CONTINUE TO AFFECT THE EAST COAST OF THE UNITED STATES THROUGH TUESDAY. LARGE SWELLS WILL GRADUALLY SUBSIDE IN PUERTO RICO...THE VIRGIN ISLANDS...HISPANIOLA...AND PORTIONS OF THE BAHAMAS DURING THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS.
