Hurricane Karl Expected to Make Landfall in Mexico Around Midday on Friday as a Category 3 Hurricane

Hurricane Karl currently has maximum sustained winds of 120 mph and is moving west at 8 mph towards and across Mexico. It is expected to move inland over Mexico on Friday night and Saturday.

Karl Now a Category 3, Bermuda in Igor's Path

The National Hurricane Center has issued a public advisory for Hurricane Karl.

A Hurricane Warning is in effect for:

  • The coast of Mexico from Veracruz to Cabo Rojo. 

A Hurricane Watch is in effect for:

  • The coast of Mexico north of Cabo Rojo to La Cruz.

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for:

  • The coast of Mexico north of Cabo Rojo to La Cruz
  • The coast of Mexico south of Veracruz to Punta El Lagarto
MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 120 MPH...195 KM/HR...WITH HIGHER GUSTS. KARL IS A CATEGORY THREE HURRICANE ON THE SAFFIR-SIMPSON HURRICANE WIND SCALE. LITTLE CHANGE IN STRENGTH IS LIKELY BEFORE LANDFALL...WITH KARL EXPECTED TO WEAKEN AFTER LANDFALL.




Hurricane Igor meanwhile is moving towards Bermuda and could hit the island on Sunday. Hurricane Julia appears to be dying out in the Atlantic Ocean.
