Hurricane Paula 2010 Poses Threat to Cuba Yucatan: Projected Path
Hurricane Paula is Now a Category 2 Storm Near Cuba
It's projected path on Tuesday morning is still unclear, but Tropical Storm Paula has become Hurricane Paula and is currently posing a threat to Eastern Yucatan and Western Cuba according to the National Hurricane Center.
A Hurricane Warning is in effect for the coast of Mexico from Punta Gruesa northward to Cabo Catoche, including Cozumel.
A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for the coast of Mexico from Chetuman northward to south of Punta Gruesa, and the coast of Mexico from Cabo Catoche to San Felipe.
A HURRICANE WARNING MEANS THAT HURRICANE CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED SOMEWHERE WITHIN THE WARNING AREA. A WARNING IS TYPICALLY ISSUED 36 HOURS BEFORE THE ANTICIPATED FIRST OCCURRENCE OF TROPICAL-STORM- FORCE WINDS...CONDITIONS THAT MAKE OUTSIDE PREPARATIONS DIFFICULT OR DANGEROUS. PREPARATIONS TO PROTECT LIFE AND PROPERTY SHOULD BE RUSHED TO COMPLETION.
Hurricane Paula is currently moving north / northwest at about 10 mph, and a turn towards the north is expected to occur on Tuesday night or early Wednesday. It is expected at this time that the center of Hurricane Paula will approach the east coast of the Yucatan Peninsula Tuesday night and early Wednesday.
