This picture was taken by me whilst I was standing in the bobsleigh track in Cervinia, Italy, in about 1989. At the time I was competing in a British Bobsleigh Championship on this most wonderful of tracks.. Sadly it is no longer in use.
Running water is used to hose-down the track and repair cracks and scrapes. When the hose was not in use someone pointed the jet of water into the tree that you see in the picture where it froze. The tree fell over about an hour after taking this picture.
whozPiccy this is oen of the best photo's I've seen! It is an interesting controversy now brewing about whether we are heading for an overheated climate - which evidence points to this as being a more likey scenario because of the ongoing greenhouse effect from the carbon-dioxide pollution and particle pollution, or another mini ice-age which some scientists say is also a possibility! The debate rages on ... but the recent evidence (past 100 yrs) shows the first theory much more credible.
