An idea for battling global warming
We need to insist that ALL "carbon banks", the entities that trade carbon credits, be required to be non-profit and cap the salary levels for their CEOs. Once there is no profit incentive behind the global warming arguments, I'm guessing that they all but disappear.
I think this idea has great merit in light of the importance of the subject. IF the very existence of mankind rests on the reduction of carbon levels, then we should not allow it too be controlled by people doing so simply for profit. Since Profiteers lose interest when profits fall, and this is SO important, we can not chance that "only for profits" may leave the job half done.
Perhaps the EPA should manage the US Carbon Bank. Carbon Credits should be balanced according to the importance of the industry and across the entire country. So, for example, everybody needs electricity; so we'll balance their carbon debit first, then balance other industries based on the needs of the American people.
IF we need to balance credits globally, it should not be done with money or additional handouts. Should we need to borrow credits from some other country, it should be done on the basis of continued trade agreements and humanitarian aid. So, let's say that we currently give $40 million annually to country A in medicines and food aid; then we should get to borrow Carbon Credits in exchange for that aid; no cash payments, no additional aid, just payment for what we already give. Should we not get some return for policing the world and being the most generous country on the planet? Poor countries cannot feed their people carbon credits after all.
Al Gore is right, this is vitally important, far more important than money and profit. So, let's keep the "root of all evils" out of global warming. Then we can get to work on getting it out of US politics! Yeah, right!
Here's another idea. The United States of America provides 22% of the United Nations' funding. Since we are about 5.5% of the worlds' population, we are paying about 400% per capita for the existence of the UN. So, I propose that the UN collect carbon credits from monetarily poor, carbon credit rich countries for distribution to other UN member states based on the percentage of revenue that they pay into the UN's funds. We should be able to offset a lot of our carbon debt easily by doing this.

That is why Mr. Gore, under no circumstance what so ever, would never, ever, ever, never, think of making a profit from it. No sirree bob, not ever!
