Mussoorie has been under the scanner of supreme court monitoring committee sisnce 1990 when after an agitation the lime stone minning was stopped in Mussoorie. After which SCMC got the right to monitor thr illegal construction as no further construction was allowed in the hill station town. However the illegal construction with the connivance of forest and MDDA the organisation which regulates the costruction in Mussoorie and Dehradun.this is one of the many cases.

Mussoorie, 17 Oct: Rampant corruption has surfaced as unidentified persons are busy in illegal construction and plotting in the forest area and enclosing oak trees with the cement and gravel which is illegal according to the forest and MDDA laws in Mussoorie. The illegal construction for which the embankment has been constructed on a major scale flouts the forest laws and encloses the trees in a way that they die due to lack of water and oxygen. This has created a furore among the resident of the hill station.
The site belongs to some person from Delhi. The residents of Mussoorie are angry at this development and state that a thorough investigation would surely reveal the connivance of the two agencies concerned, the MDDA and forest department.
Mrs Uniyal, a shopkeeper in Library Bazaar said that the laws were only for the poor, while the rich and famous were flouting all laws and constructing their mansions by greasing the pockets of the officials.
It is strange how the officials could overlook such a grand construction on the road at Camel’s Back near the cemetery. The citizens of Mussoorie are of the view that a proper investigation would definitely lead to some corrupt heads rolling.
According to sources, the plotting is being done to make flats to be sold later.
