Illinois Earthquake: Chicago, Sycamore Shook by 3.8 Earthquake

An earthquake struck Illinois this morning, shaking up Chicago, as well as nearby Sycamore, and out into Iowa and Wisconsin. Aside from the 4am earthquake frightening a lot of residents, no reports of damage have emerged so far. Initially the Illinois earthquake was described as reaching 4.3 magnitude, but the US Geological Survey (USGS) is calling it 3.8.

The United States Geological Survey reported that the earthquake, which had an estimated magnitude of 4.3, was centered near Virgil, about 50 miles northwest of Chicago, at a depth of about three miles. There were no immediate reports of aftershocks.
