Another depressing day of seeing the TVA Ash Spill. This was taken from the east side of the Emory River, across from the Kingston Steam Plant. One reason all these workers are out on the water is to remove the microspheres floating in the water. These are a product of coal burning.

The point of my posting these photos is not to be anti-coal burning, leftist, etc. The fact is this disaster is not the result of lacking "green energy" or some new-cutting edge technology, but the result of not using technology that's hundreds of years old. It's called barges and trains. These are used to provide coal to coal-burning power plants. The volume of ash produced by a coal-burning power plant is but a tiny fraction of the volume of coal that goes into it. If ash were taken away as fast as produced, you might end up with one train car full of ash for every 10 train cars full of coal. It is just a matter of actually putting on the train and then sending it to some geologically stable location for disposal or else to industry for use.
