Off the coast of Indonesia an earthquake has hit this morning, October 24th 2009, in the Maluku area east of East Timor.

The earthquake was a magnitude 7 earthquake and it did trigger a tsunami warning.

The tsunami warning was lifted soon after, but residents were sent running out of fear that it was going to be a repeat of the major earthquake that hit a few weeks ago in a nearby area. The last earthquake killed over 1,000 people. This earthquake however was too deep to cause as much damage as the last earthquake.

Earthquakes are common in this area of the world.
