After hearing all sorts of strange noises in the night I finally had to go investigate today. What i found was 3 different types of stinging insects in my rafters right above my bed. The amazing thing is there were mud daubers, European paper wasps, and bumble bees all nesting within no more then 1.5 square feet up there. Here you can see the paper wasps and the bees. the mud dauber nest was behind bee hive and can be seen in other pics. I am positive on the identification of the wasps, but a little iffy on the bumble bees. I am fairly sure these are Bombus melanopygus, but they could be Bombus huntii as well. I think more the former just because of geography.
