Central Italy woke up again last night when a strong aftershock was perceived ar 2:52am. According to the first data available, it was reported initially as a 5.7 Richter quake, the USGS reported it as a 5.2 event.

Luckily - again we have perceived it clearly in Pescara and was also felt clearly in the Rome area - the latest one lasted only a few seconds, 5 or 6.

Another strong but less violent shock (around 4.0 Richter) was registered just before 1am, but wasn't  noticed as the 2:52 one outside the epicenter area.

Death toll hit 287 and might end up around 300 considering some people are still reported missing; other figures include 1,000 injured, 27,000 homeless.

In the evening, more aftershocks were heard. A particularly strong one happened at 9:38pm, classified as a 5.0 Richter by the USGS and 4.9 by the Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia. Again, this one was heard in a wide area, from Rome to Pescara - personally witnessed again - and in more locations of central Italy, even up in the Marche region, such as Fermo.
