A 5.9 earthquake occurred near Japan on August 11, 2011.

The August 11, 2011 Japan earthquake registered approximately 6.0 in magnitude.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the Japan quake was centered around 11 miles east-southeast of Iwaki at a depth of about 23.6 miles.


There have been no reports of injuries or major damage. No tsunami warnings have been issued in the aftermath of the Honshu earthquake.

Located in the Ring of Fire, Japan suffered a massive back in March of this year.
