The two primary ways to travel between Windsor, Ontario, and Detroit, Michigan, is either the Windsor-Detroit Tunnel or the Ambassador Bridge. Our preference is the bridge; the views are much better.
At the time the bridge opened, April 16, 1930, it's 1,850-foot-length spanning the Detroit River made it the longest suspension bridge in the world. Though now surpassed by longer and more famous bridges, It is still an impressive sight.
Toll for the bridge is $2.75 American or $4.00 Canadian. Expect a short delay for a security check at the border. For us it has taken anywhere from 5 to 25 minutes. A passport or proof of citizenship may be required.
