A Katmai Brown Bear digging for clams

This photo was taken in the wild, at Katmai National Park, in Alaska. I was on a small boat near the shore and used a Canon 40D + Canon 500 f4 hand held.

The brown bear was returning rocks of hundreds pounds without effort. The bears at Katmai are not to bothered by human presence as they have not been hunted for hundred of years.

Unfortunately, last year, the US governement approved the hunt of those bear on the reserve. This is a sad story... more details to follow soon.
