Kingdome Seattle-1982

The Kingdome Stadium, Seattle, in 1982. The stadium was completed in the mid-70s and was demolished before it was 30 years old. What a fantastic waste of resources -- a well-known architectural firm was about to issue a report stating that the structure could be saved when the newspapers began a campaign to destroy it. The Alaskan Way Viaduct is in the foreground right; it is nearly identical to the freeway in Oakland that collapsed in the 1989 earthquake. Interstate 5 is visible in the background.
