La Paz Baja California Sur: 6.2 Earthquake and Hurricane Miriam
Once again, the inhabitants of La Paz have faced an earthquake and a hurricane alert at once.
Schools will be closed tomorrow to allow assessement of infrastructure damage due to earthquake and aftershocks. Schools are used as refuge sites to those who are evacuated from flooding areas during storms making the revision of the buildings necessary with hurricane Miriam so close by.
There isn´t any report of damage or loss. Things are calm while people take the necessary precautions in these situations.
Last night as inhabitants of the city of La Paz were waiting for hurricane Henriette to pass by, another small quake was felt. It's an amazing omission how national news have barely mentioned the fact that earthquakes have been occuring since Saturday, September 01, 2007 at 13:14:22 beginning with an earthquake of 6.1 in magnitute and the latest on Tuesday September 04 at 9:07:39 pm. with a magnitude of 5.
