Around 3pm today lightning struck a house in Claybrook Drive. A fire soon took hold in the roof and quickly spread through the house. Several engines and two ladders from the Wylie Fire Service attended and doused the flames with water and foam, successfully preventing the fire from spreading to neighboring houses. Hundreds of neighbors turned out to watch the drama unfold. No one was injured in the blaze but the house was completely gutted.
