Lightning strikes have started three new forest fires in the Yukon; one south of Old Crow, one near Brittania Creek and now a third near the McQuesten River lodge.

The first two fires are being allowed to burn currently because they are not near buildings or communities, but the McQuesten fire is near the lodge and fire crews are on scene.

The Little Salmon Lake campground remained closed on Tuesday because of a large fire burning in the area.

The Robert Campbell Highway was open on Tuesday but could be closed again depending on the activity of a large fire there.

The Yukon fire crews was also battling a fire near the Teslin River last week, and is still burning at around 2,000 hectares in size.
