The fire is still 0% contained and est. 1000 hectares. It was started by lightning on July 22 2009 in the early evening. There was a couple of helicopters bucketing water to the fire that evening but they were only out for maybe 2 hrs, tops! The next day it jumped all over the mountain range, and when I went downtown to take pictures there was over 5 bombers working on it...the bombers where only here for the first day, since then it's been the helicopters fighting it.

Aw crap! That is friggin horrendous, such a beautiful place, rivaling Lake Louise. I used to live in the cabin on Lake Seton (directly below where this photo was taken at the BC Hydro point) and loved waking up every morning and thinking there is a God! The best people in all BC live there.
Lets hope it stop before it hits the First Nations Community and the Town. My Hopes and Prayers are with you all!

Thanks Barry...I was just actually trying to add my photos to the other story that was on here, and I ended up creating a whole new story...I hope forestry gets it out soon, as of today 7-27-09 it's still 1000 hectares and 0% contained. An evacuation order was issued for the north east shore of the lake yesterday. They brought in a sky crane helicopter, with a bucking capacity of approximately 1400 gallons today, I took a couple of pics but the day light was fading fast. Great to see some photos from this area; I couldn't find anything on the news expect the new fire in Whistler. Reminds me of the summer (2003?); once the fire started in Kelowna there was minimal coverage of the fire in Barrier (where the town burned 3 times and their main employer - the mill - burned to the ground and was never rebuilt). I happen to have family in Lillooet, so I'm especially interested to see photos. Thanks for sharing!
