Earlier this year Birdman Productions released a film about Mayport Village and the threat of a cruise ship terminal being built there -- "One Village Same Ocean" played to packed theaters and brought standing ovations from the crowds.  Just prior to the film being released,  it appeared imminent that the Jacksonville City Council would approve the building of a cruise ship terminal in the Village -- so far that disaster has been avoided -- at least in part due to the public outcry fueled by the success of the film.

Birdman Productions is now releasing a new film "Living River Village," again sponsored by the Public Trust Environmental Legal Institute of Florida. This film highlights the potential for Mayport Village to become a thriving shrimping/fishing community and eco-historical tourism headquarters.

Filmmakers Josh Hansbrough and Justin Anderson have traveled across Florida and the First Coast to document successful eco tourism attractions, imaginatively bringing them all to one site in historic Mayport Village.

The 25 minute film makes the experience of a future Mayport Village come alive -- the viewer explores the marsh on a kayak eco tour, goes underwater spear fishing out in the ocean, sees newborn wild dolphins, goes out on a ship to confront a wild Spanish pirate looking for French Hugenots, etc. etc. -- watching the film is a wonderful experience in itself,  pre-release viewers of the film have laughed, cried, and marveled at the powerful message.  The viewer learns why our River has been one of the most sought after areas to settle for thousands of years and why it is so important to protect this area.

Wine and beer will be served as the doors open at 7:00 and the 25 minute film will start at 7:30. Join in the discussion after the film with the Mayport Community Development Corporation and help make our vision of Mayport Village come to life.

We see a bright future for Mayport Village!
