Today -A- and I started the Localvore challenge. This project, taking place through the month of August consists of a simple paradigm.
Eat foods only grown and produced within 100 miles of your home.
The Upper Valley group met at a kick off meeting this past Sunday night.
Although certain difficulties will certainly arise, we are excited to try this exercise and see what impact it makes on our health, our awareness of our community, and our lives.
Yesterday we ate Chocolate Lucky Charms and went out for dinner at Salt Hill Pub. Today we are eating salad from our garden, fresh eggs from the chickens, and going to the Upper Valley Food Co Op for their local products selection to stock up the fridge and menu for the next few days. We will focus on the Farmers Markets and if we want to go out, there are even a few local restaurants that have Localvore items on their menu.
