If you thought the pollution in Beijing was bad, what about area round Stratford, Olympic City?

I took this photograph a few days ago of a couple of 'cootes' trying to swim in the green and murky canals by Stratford, filled with rubbish. Have the canals gone 'radioactive, got duckweed or is this 'healthy sludge'? I will send a copy of this to the water authorities, BBC Nature and Boris Johnson for their comments.
