This is the current squalor of  Stratford High Street,  East London, where London plans to host the Olympics in which VIPs, athletes and tourists will pass. 

East London gets a raw deal as the main tourist 'hot spots' are in the West End yet they pay council tax too and deserve to get what they pay for.

The photographs were taken on 24th August 2008 which was on the day of the London 2012 Handover Celebrations.

According to the London Borough of Newham's website, it states 'Residents have told us that litter is one of their biggest concerns. We are making good progress on clearing litter'. They also claim that household waste is 'picked up once a week'. 

Additionally, they have requested residents to contact the council if they see any litter and I have  also contacted the Council for the comments..

The BBC said today "A phone poll of 1,000 adults during the closing weekend of the Beijing Games suggested that 32% would attend the London event, up from 25% in February". 

Let's hope that the Olympics can bring some benefits and encourage the Council to act.
