London Tweeters - are united in disappointment with lack of Earth Hour effort.

"Do better next time" seems to be the message all round to Londoners - but the thing about our global climate problems is: we need to be doing better now.

Having written the above.... have since read public comments re: Earth Hour on BBC News online:

Question:  is apathetic sentiment towards global warming one of "couldn't-care-less", or of resigned defeatism?

Switching off lights for an hour won't change the world, but the collective consciousness that Earth Hour is engendering will.

People were disappointed in Times Square, too.

Hi Lefty - yes, I saw that.  On the other hand though, there are seemingly impressive pics of NYC skyline going quite dark, including Empire State Building.

Yeah, some cities didn't do as well as others, London being one of them I think.

In Paris, apparently, they turned the eiffel tower on like 5 minutes later and people were speculating that it was because it's a hazard for planes. The director of the WWF was at the Eiffell Tower, though, and seemed visibly moved and had this to say: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A8_TywmlbBg
