Today we drove up to Fort McDowell Regional Park. The area we were in was interesting in that it apparently had been burned some time back. There were a few remnants of trees that apparently had died in the fire and a lot of the rocks showed scortch marks.
This saguaro was at the beginning of the short trail we took to the top of a small hill. The hill provided a great vantage point. I will upload more photos from the hill top later.
What caught my eye about this cactus was the big hole in the side (previous photo). Other than the big gapping hole, the cactus looks healthy.
