Bandarlampung (ANTARA News) - A strong earthquake measuring 7.2 on the Richter scale with a potential to trigger a tsunami rocked Muko Muko district, Sumatra`s Bengkulu province Monday afternoon.

North Lampung`s Meteorological and Geophysics Office said the epicenter of the earthquake which took place at 3.36 pm was located at the coordinates of 2.66 degrees southern latitude and -99.63 degrees eastern longitude, or about 165 km southwest of Muko Muko district, Bengkulu province.

The quake occurred at a depth of 10 km and had, according to the BMG, the potential of triggering a tsunami.(*) END
