New York Mayor Bloomberg says schools will be open tomorrow, despite being closed today due to the snow storm. Bloomberg said that all major streets will be plowed tonight, hence students will be back in the classroom.
Today, heavy snow storms forced public schools to close, keeping students either home by the fire or out playing in the snow.
Bloomberg urged New Yorkers to stay off roads, and if they must travel , to use public transportation.
Up to 15 cm of snow has already fallen across the city, and a total of up to 30 cm of snow is expected across the five boroughs of the city.

I'm a student and although it might sound like I'm favoring no school because I have to go, this is rediculous because I know so many people who take busses, walk, and even take trains to get to school. I don't really have an excuse because I live very close, but others will be late. And many parents (PARENTS!) are still keeping their kids in. Please, just close schools tomorrow. I know its hard because of the week vacation going on next week, but really! Snowstorms aren't happening that often, and it honestly won't hurt to close it another day.

I am not walking for 30 min. in these conditions because its totally dangerous in where i live (hills everywhere).....so what is the big deal to close a school for at least one more day....this is really stupid. I say school tomorrow is a complete "no-go".

i think school should be closed tommarow as well im a student and i like school but feel it should be closed for the saftey of the kids tht sum people live far away from school or have to take the bus or train i feel we should have it closed for one more day cause if sum thing happens to a student while going to school tht will be the fault of the person who decided to not cancel school for one more day and i think we should have atleast one more day so tht the roads can be cleared so tht it can be safer for us and so tht are parents dont have to worry bout us falling in slippery snow or getting sick as well

Being a student I believe there shouldn't be school tomorrow. It snowed A LOT today and the roads are going to be really dangerous. I'm sure many students and teachers will be late to school so what's the point. Many people can't even get their car out so how are we suppose to walk uphill when the snow is ankle-deep! Please reconsider and close school tomorrow.

Matt from gravesend (not verified)at 20:04 on February 10th, 2010
I have to say is it takes me 45 mins to get to school and my neighborhood (gravesend) is all snow. Sidewalks are full of snow and impossible for me to get to school. I take the N train to fort Hamilton pkway and get on the b16 ( which takes forever) and according to you bloomberg u think the mta service is running but is not. MTA- May Take Awhile!!!!! Trains are no problem but buses are a BIG problem. By you saying school is in effect tomorrow you will endanger many students lives. All you think about is urself and never give us a say. Most people want another snow day or stay home because there houses are buried in snow but all I WANT IS TOO LIVE ANOTHER DAY!!!! Please think about what you are doing.

I think schools should be closed tomorrow for everyone's safety. I think it is stupid and very irresponsible for the person who had the idea to open the schools tomorrow. I bet he doesn't have young kids or he never had kids. He doesnot know about safety.

I am soo surprised that we have school and it blew my mind when he said major streets will be clear. Obviously this man didn't think about the non-important streets that eventually lead to these major streets because these little non-important streets are NOT clear. I guess it also didn't dawn on him that they said the snow will stop around 12 midnight.....UMM hello that should have been the red flag. I wish he would drive by on my block, wake my neighbors up at 1:00 in the morning and tell them they have to shovel snow. I also love how he says school is the most important thing when half of the schools will be empty because who the hell wants to travel in this damn weather. I know I don't! What's the purpose of going to school when teachers and students will be absent? I'd love to know what the hell we could possibly learn when only one student is in class with a substitute teacher!

WTF!!! (not verified)at 03:01 on February 11th, 2010
I really think school should have been closed today to atleast give people the chance to shovel snow so the sidewalks will be clear tomorrow. Now I see why my mom wants to move to Jersey!

okay even if it stopped snowing there is still a huge load of snow everywhere.Busses are going to get stuck and there will be traffic. Why cant bloomberg give out winter break a head start. Plus it is freezing out side. I want to see him go to school in this wheather like really and if He is really going to take mentro cards away from us. Ha there going to be more then 1000 kids droppin out of school. what a smart move . kids already hate school now they have to pay to go to school everyday and come home? what if we cant afford it. What if we have to take a train and 2 busses to go to school. What if the school kids are attending is giving them a better education and a better chance in life but they can not go to that school and have to go to there zoned school because they cant afford to pay for bus and trains everyday. serioucly .

I perfectly understood your complaint man but take it easy, I'm sure there must be a better way to express your opinion and get better results: perhaps a formal letter to the Scholar District you belong to... or something like that.
Good luck!!

Can you get any denser. It's still snowing the the end is not in sight.Students and teachers are put in danger so you can prove what? Few students show, many teachers cannot get out of their sidestreets, and the days is wasted? What are you thinking?
