At date of this photo, Feb7 2009, it looks like the International Broadcast Centre / International Media Centre promised to the people of Hackney as "lasting legacy" will actually be built on the Hackney Wick site. However the legacy gift that funding would come from investors has disappeared due to the credit crunch, so now taxpayers are to foot the bill.

I keeping wanting a pair of binnoculars to see what is happening around the cranes, but I guess you couldnt get any closer. I love construction sites. Nosing around to see what exactly they are doing, and how they organise the various trades to fit in with each other and the deliveries: all that sort of stuff. I would LOVE to see Stratford International before it opens, engineering nerd that I am!

I think nearest you'll get to Stratford Int'l is east London blogger diamondgeezer's Flickr set.
For the Olympics site, check out London2012 on Flickr, especially recommended - Loopzilla and Poysenberry
