Mighty Ondoy
It's a nice sleep that Friday evening and the rain keeps on pouring. I woke up early stare at the window and finds out that it was just an ordinary rainy day on Saturday and made some cleaning on our backyard. I was on my computer where I can overlook the street and people passing by and didn't notice that the waters was started rising and to my surprised it is almost above the bumper of my brother in law's FX that park outside the street. I don't know how to drive and my brother in law came to work that morning so I asked help immediately while the water contineously rising at steady level. I find relief when I found help and moved the car to a higher ground. No one in our neighborhood was spared to the flood that rose in its fullest height at around 3:00 PM. The water go through every door in knee deep until it subsided at 6:00 PM in time for the low tide. The water has no way to go that morning because of the high tide, the main reason that make this typhoon Ondoy so destructive.

Bakit naging ganito ang mga nangyari.. 2009 na dapat by this time mayron na tayong flood prevention facility like in japan: (strange.commongate.com/post/Japanese_Flood_Prevention_Facility).

Is that the best that you can do Pixelcone? Kung gusto mo i donate mo yung mga damit mo just like we did. We never thought of the incapability of the government or anyone else, we just helped. Yan ang may nagawa.

@pixelCone: of course there's something that we can do.. just in case you haven't heard, it's called HELP. we can choose to help others by donating, praying, volunteering OR by simply shutting up if you can't do any of the three.

I think ang ibig sabihin ni pixelcone is phil government should be responsible to fix the flood system in phils, dapat i-spend yung tax money wisely hindi ibubulsa, para maiwasan ang major flood, mahirap bang mag-imbento ng flood system? 2009 na matagal ng naimbento ang flood system..... its ok to help, pero dapat i-fix ang problema, hindi mag react lang!

I think both sides have their valid points. Yun nga lang, there could have been a more civil way to talk about these stuff and come up with useful "suggestions" for both the individuals and the goverment. Here are my two cents on the matter: Una. Corruption is undeniably a problem in the government. Pero sabi nga, let him who is without sin, cast the first stone. We're also corrupt in our own little ways, sino ba sa inyo ang hindi nakapag-cheat ever in an exam or on a person? That alone, I think guilty na tau lahat. Let's not challenge it na, kasi I'm sure kung di man cheating, we've all been corrupt one way or the other. The corruption we witness in school, is what we see in the government. On a larger scale nga lang. Kaya kahit marindi man tayo, here I am to quote, "Sa atin dapat magsimula ang pagbabago." CHANGE is not instantaneous, sa ngayon, we'll be paying the consequences of our corruption. Pero little by little, as we journey on sa pagbabago, we'll experience its benefits. Let's all endure for now. Pangalawa. We went to Marikina yesterday and I saw how people badly needed help. At one point I wanted to ask, can others please also do something? Pero as I've witnessed the scenes in supermarkets and how the shelves were wiped out of relief goods as individuals take the initiative to help out, I almost cried. I'd like to commend everyone for lending a hand in the littlest way they can. Modern heroes kau guys! My conclusion: For now, let's try to help out. After this calamity, let's try to take the road to change. And let's pray. :) God bless everyone! ^^

i think the philippines will be flooded by help. (sorry for the pun) i kinda understand pixelcone's rant. everybody has helped in their own way. kaso because of people's greed, a lot of innocent people have suffered. i just hope that all the millions of dollars worth na aid na dumating, ay umabot sa people who need them. and not mapunta na naman sa mga greedy people. how sure are we that the millions donated will reach the people affected when there are greedy and corrupt politicians and officials in between? remember the earthquake in 90? or the pinatubo eruption in 91?

Miracle daw ang mag build ng Flood prevention according to Big Pens!!!! This person really sound like a politician or brainwashed-by-politicians. If other countries can do it, why not us?...ok if that is a miracle how about this:.... government should WARN and prepare the rescue team before opening any dams, is that a miracle too?? .....that should be easy to do right? DON'T GET ME WRONG, ITS OK TO HELP, BUT WITHOUT FIXING IT IS JUST A WASTE!!, BUILDING THE BEST FLOOD SYSTEM NOW (AND WARN PEOPLE) IS WAY CHEAPER THAN REACTING TO FLOOD EVERY YEAR AND LOOSING INNOCENT LIVES!!! ..stop hating pixelcone, ....stop protecting politicians. .....let's help and ask govt to do the right thing!!!

THE REALITY OF MOSTLY PILIPINOS ARE NOT AWARE OF THE LAWS OF GOD BUT THEY ARE AWARE OF PAKIKISAMA OR TRADITIONS THAT RESULT TO FORGET THE WORDS OF GOD AND BY THAT THEY WILL NOT SEE WHAT ARE THE PROBLEMS OR THE FRUITS OF THEIR IGNORANCE. THE PATRIOT ARE GONE THAT WHY NOBODY CAN CHANGE THE REALITY OF WHAT HAPPENING. ITS TRUE THAT MANY ARE PROFFESSIONALS AND MOSTLY MANY RELIGIONS IN THE PHILIPPINES BUT I CAN NOT SEE THE FRUITS OF MANY RELIGIONS BELIEFS.WHOM YOU BELIEFS WHERE MANY ARE LIARS.GOD GIVE THE FRUITS OUR WORKS BASE ON RIGHT OR WRONG."KABAYAN GISING!
