Serang (ANTARA News) - Eruptions of Mt Anak Krakatau in the Sunda
Strait, would not be so disastrous as the frequency of daily eruptions,
volcanic shocks and tremors, has been fluctuating.

Observers at the Anak Krakatau monitoring post in Pasauran village,
Cinangka subdistrict, Serang regency, from 00.00 hours to 12.00
Indonesia Standard Time recorded 219 minor eruptions, 15 deep volcanic
shocks, 50 shallow volcanic quakes, and 15 tremors.

The number of eruptions on Sunday had declined, as from 6 a.m to 6 p.m
there were 215 eruptions, five deep quakes, 51 shallow shocks, and 39
tremors.

Therefore, the condition of Anak Krakatau is still normal.

However, according an expert of the Volcanology and Geology Disaster
Mitigation Agency, the third level alert status of the volcano still
needs to be maintained, and visitors and fishermen are strongly advised
to stay away from the disaster area, as least within a radius of three
kilometers of the crater. (*) END
