Part of the mountain outside my office (locates in the east part of Taipei city) slid down around 3 AM Sept 15, 2008. This photo shows the mountain before (right) and after (left) Typhoon Sinlaku (Sept. 2008)

Wow, were you able to get inside the building?

Yes, we were able to get in.

The damage in Taipei wasn't too bad.  The most serious damage occurred in the central part of Taiwan.  A hot-spring sight-seeing area was totally destroyed.  At least 4 bridges (as far as I know) were broken, causing a couple of cars dropped into the river.  A tunnel crashed when several cars and motorcycles were still inside (7 dead, 9 wounded).  Several houses were covered by mud flood (much more serious than the one I saw).   More than 10 thousand families are still out of water and electricity now.
