Astronomers are claiming that a mysterious object from space will pass the earth on Wednesday, January 13, 2009. Fear not, the object will not hit our planet but merely speed past Earth, some 80,000 miles away.

At approximately 33 to 50 feet wide at most, Astronomers believe the object to be space junk or it could be a tiny asteroid. Even if it did collide with the earth, because of its size, it is too small to cause any damage.

According to NASA, at 7:47 a.m. EST the mysterious object might be bright enough to be visible with a good amateur telescope if located in the Western United States.
