This was the thing that they did not mention on the campsite webpages, Gravelines has a wonderful sandy beach, fabulous Vauban fortifications, but our campsite was also right next door to the largest nuclear power plant in Europe, third largest in the world. One day the alarms at the plant went off numerous times, including in the middle of the night. I found this really un-nerving, would there even be any point in getting in the car and trying to drive away from it if this went up? Probably not.
