Another Earthquake Hit Off the Coast of Japan on June 23, 2011
Another Japan earthquake occurred in the early hours of Thursday, June 23, 2011. The earthquake hit the same region of Japan that was devastated by the massive March 11 quake and tsunami.
The June 23, 2011 Japan earthquake registered approximately 6.2 on the Richter scale. The Jamaica quake hit around 6:51 am local time.
Thursday's Japan quake hit about 30 miles off the shore of Iwate prefecture at a depth of 19.9 miles. Much of the area is still damaged from March's disasters.
The Japan Meteorological Agency issued a tsunami warning for the region, but canceled it about an hour later.
There are no early reports of serious injuries or damage.
