Clifton NJ House Explosion

A house in Clifton, New Jersey, was flattened by a gas explosion, injuring two people on Friday, April 9. The explosion took place at 64 Rutgers Place before 2 p.m.

It appears that a contractor damaged a gas line and caused a natural gas build up in the house, and caused a major explosion. Fortunately no one was in the house when the explosion happened.

Police reported two people had minor injuries, a Public Service Electric and Gas Co. employee and a woman were hurt in the explosion.

The explosion could be heard from blocks away, and neighbors could see smoke coming from the house in Clifton.

According to preliminary information, a Public Service Electric and Gas Co. employee and a woman walking nearby had minor injuries in the blast, police said. However, Hicks said PSE&G had no reports of injuries.
