NP Rank:
New mountain discovered in Britain
Great news for those that have walked up Mynydd Graig Goch in Wales for they can now say that they have climbed a mountain rather than walked up a hill.
The hill has been redesignated a mountain after it's height has been recalculated and now meets the magic 2000 ft mark that makes it a mountain. Up until recently the hill came in at just 2 ft short of a mountain.
So here size certainly matters at least when naming something mountain or hill but the name itself matters not one bit to the aching muscles and stunning views that one gets from the top of this hill .. sorry ,,, mountain!
A new mountain has been found in one of Britain’s beauty spots...thanks to a team of intrepid walkers.
Mynydd Graig Goch in North Wales had been officially classed as a hill.
At 1,998ft high it fell just 2ft short of the magic 2,000ft mark that would make it a mountain.
But using state-of-the art satellite equipment, John Barnard, Myrddyn Phillips and Graham Jackson discovered it is actually 30in taller than a century-old estimate.

Wasn't there a Hugh Grant movie about this same kind of thing? Not the same mountain though I think.
