Days after hailstones accompanied by ice flakes covered a village in the Central part of Kenya, authorities have not come out to explain the rare phenomena which left hundreds of farmers counting heavy losses in Nyandarua North.

The village which is literally on the Equator is right on top of the a hill which is one of the highest points in the region and according the locals, the area was formerly covered by Olborosat forest and acted as the catchment area for several streams which drain to the Thompson falls.

Thousands of people from various parts of the country and even tourists who were visiting the Nyahururu Thompson Falls thronged the ice field to witness 'the winter village' right on the equator.

One of the villages recalled a similar condition happening back in 1988 but not many people could notice since the area was partially covered by forest.

The farmers in the area have urged to Kenyan government to haste their research and release a statement to avoid a disaster in the future.

JOSEPH KANYI, I like this story. It's good stuff.  I'm surprised no one has linked this disaster to the revenge of god against clear-cutting the forest and impacting the watershed that feeds the Nyahururu Thompson falls.

People forget that only about 20 - 30 miles from wherever in the world they may be standing, the temperature is just about at absolute zero, around -273 C !!

Of course, I mean that distance directly overhead ...

Mysterious article !!
