Sidoarjo, East Java (ANTARA News) - Adrino Mazzini, a Norwegian mud volcano expert, was currently in Sidoarjo to study the prolonged mud flow which has been inundating residential areas in Porong, Sidoarjo District, East Java Province, since 2006.

Mazzini had earlier twice visited the mud flow area and taken gas samples from the source of the mud flooding to find out the cause of the incessant mud flowing from the mining site of Lapindo Brantas Inc.

"The mud burst is caused by a fault occurring in Arjuna - Penanggungan - Welirang - Porong - Kalanganyar - Madura," Mazzini said.

He studied a possible existence of magma content and the source of gas and water bursting from residential areas in Porong.

The Norwegian expert was accompanied by an Indonesian geological consultant Adi Kadar in the research.(*) END
