earth day!

President Barack Obama will be spending Earth Day, April 22nd, in Iowa, in what to many seems to be a 'victory lap' of what launched his run to the White House and to becoming President.

Obama will be in Newton on Earth Day, which will be the first presidential visit to that town in over 50 years - the breakdown of the visit has not been released yet however.

Obama visited Newton in December 2007, just weeks before winning that state's caucus. He returned to Iowa at various points during the general election including the Friday before Election Day.

Before Obama visited Iowa, it was traditionally a Republican state, but it was the first place where Obama felt he could overcome racial divisions and win in that state.
Iowa is actually the number two state in the U.S in wind energy production, and so it seems like not too bad a place to celebrate Earth Day.
