Occupy Seattle Protester Jennifer Fox Blames Cops for Miscarriage
Jennifer Fox, an Occupy Seattle protester, blames her miscarriage on being pepper sprayed and kicked in the stomach by police last week.
Fox was three months pregnant when she was attacked by police at the protest. Photos of her (along with others) being pepper sprayed and taken to an ambulance went viral. Fox says she was trying to escape the chaos, screaming to police “’I'm pregnant! I'm pregnant! I need to get out of here!' They wouldn't let me get out. [One officer] kicked me in the stomach; [another officer] threw his bike into my stomach. Then [both officers] teamed up and pepper sprayed me in the face."
She was taken to Harborview Medical Center last Tuesday after asking for medical attention and doctors performed an ultrasound determined everything looked fine with baby. "Everything was going okay until yesterday, when I started getting sick, cramps started, and I felt like I was going to pass out," Fox says. She went back to Harborview Medical Center and found out the devastating news of the miscarriage.
Although she claims doctors told her the police were to blame, the 19 year old homeless protester does not have any confirmed reports of the miscarriage or her treatment at Harborview Medical Center. Harborview officials say they cannot provide any information by law, but mentioned that medical records would provide details of her visit. Fox told The Stranger at the Occupy Seattle encampment that she has asked her caseworker to provide her with the medical records and says she will have them this week.
Fox says she is getting legal advice on whether or not to file a lawsuit.

The 2007 film "Battle in Seattle" is based on fictional characters during the protest activities of the 1999 WTO conference.
In the film, the pregnant wife of Dale, a Seattle Police Officer played by Woody Harrelson is hit in the abdomen by a police officer's baton. She too had a miscarriage.
This is such a case of "life imitating art" if Oscar Wilde could say so himself..

This story is pure garbage - not your website. . .the woman's story. She has a sordid past confirmed by her own mom, she's taking part within a group that would love nothing more than to "stage" something like this, we have NO IDEA what she did to provoke the police officers ON TAPE, the claim that she would have medical records later in the week is garbage as well. I use Harborview Med Center quite a bit and have asked for medical transcripts of both my doctor as well as emergency room visits. Additionally, I've asked for transcripts of large spans of time, and these documents are provided to me in a matter of a few hours. She is stalling. She knows that if she these transcripts are actually released to the public, we'll find out she's full of crap. And of course, she'll have to claim that the doctors are mistaken - "oh, whoa is me!" Poor baby. This is the kind of woman that makes it difficult for the rest of us that have worked so hard all our lives, have become successful and then something like this joke of an incident happens. What an absolute crock. And the killer is, you've bought into it. Thank god I won't be visiting your site again.
