Oil Spill in Gulf of Mexico off Texas Releases 18,000 Gallons
An oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Texas has released 18,000 gallons of oil in to the ocean due to a tanker collision; thankfully the leak has been secured now.
An 820 foot Liberian ship called the Krymsk collided with an offshore supply vessel, but the ship is now stable.
"Action was taken by the crew of the Krymsk to transfer oil from the damaged fuel tank to a separate undamaged fuel tank," the Coast Guard said. "The tank ship's captain reports that approximately 18,000 gallons of oil was spilled; a Coast Guard team is underway to confirm this initial report."
The clean-up of the oil has yet to begin as it is located 40 miles offshore where there are 5 foot swells with 40 knot winds, so it is currently too dangerous. 18,000 gallons is a lot of oil, but in compartison the 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill was 11 million gallons of oil.

People slaughter sheep to obtain their hide and fleece. However, they do not only for the fleece actually but the primary purpose is the mutton for table eating.
