Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill Satellite Photos

NASA has captured satellite photos of the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico- the spill itself is the size of New Orleans.

NASA's Aqua satellite captured the spill on April 25, after the Deepwater Horizon drilling platform sank off the coast of Louisiana. Normally oil slicks are hard to see from above, as the color is only slightly different from the surrounding ocean. In this case, the Aqua satellite's  Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) was able to take advantage of the glint of the sunlight to capture the scale of the oil spill.

"Then the second angel sounded; and something like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea, and a third of the sea became as blood; and a third of the living creatures in the sea died and a third of the ships were destroyed."(Rev:8:8-9)
